Washington, D.C. — The White House firmly denied on Thursday the existence of any Iranian drone attack threat against U.S. territory, countering a report published by ABC News that claimed the FBI had warned California police departments of possible retaliatory strikes.
Karoline Leavitt, the presidential spokesperson, stated on X: “There is no such threat from Iran to our homeland, and there never was.” She clarified that the report was based on an internal email referencing an “unverified lead,” a crucial detail she said the network omitted. Leavitt demanded that ABC News retract the story immediately.
President Donald Trump acknowledged on Wednesday that an investigation was underway regarding the alleged threat, while California Governor Gavin Newsom confirmed that federal officials had alerted the state. However, Newsom later emphasized that there was no “imminent threat.”
U.S. Military Offensive Against Iran
Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command (Centcom) reported that in the first 13 days of Operation Epic Fury, American forces struck nearly 6,000 targets in Iran. Key actions included:
Destruction of more than 30 mine-laying vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Neutralization of over 60 Iranian naval ships.
Strikes on command-and-control centers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Attacks on ballistic missile sites, submarines, air defense systems, and military communications infrastructure.
Bombing of drone and weapons manufacturing facilities.
Centcom, headquartered in Florida, stated the campaign aims to “dismantle the regime’s security apparatus” by prioritizing targets that pose immediate threats.
Heightened Domestic Alert
The ongoing conflict prompted the FBI to raise the national terrorism alert level, seeking to prevent potential retaliatory attacks inside the United States. California, home to the largest Iranian-American community, remains under close federal monitoring.
While the White House insists there is no verified Iranian drone threat against U.S. soil, the military offensive in the Middle East continues to escalate, intensifying both international tensions and domestic security precautions.
